Judging from the key layout and the corked tenons my guess is this is one of M&E’s newer ebonite flutes.

I have a keyless ebonite, and aside from being heavy (by some standards–I don’t mind the heft because I’m not playing long sets or anything), I like it alot as a practice flute.
I’ve thought about getting a keyed one–do the keys work well on artificial (nonwood) flutes? Certainly closer to affordable than a keyed wooden flute. Any major disadvantages (sorry–don’t want to jinx the ebay auction)? Anyone have a recommendation as to what are the best keyed, non-wood flutes (or I guess that’s another thread…)?

“keyed, non-wood” - the M&E or Pakistani flutes are about it.

Except for antique keyed ebonite flutes.

I’d bet this flute is ebonite based upon it’s age. Michael switched to ebonite because it held the key posts better than the PVC he used before…although my prior 6 key M&E’s keys and posts were great.

The keys work well. I have one…I love this flute.

Terry McGee will key a polymer flutes, as will Desi Seery, but expect one of their flutes to be $2,000+ for an 8 key polymer flute.

Firstly, the flute is Ebonite and not ABS (my mistake). It is still live on Ebay just search for Irish flute and you will find it. Sorry for any confusion.
