I have acquired a lovely D flute by John Rutzen in Blackwood (see http://www.johnrutzen.com/flutes.htm for more information) that I believe has never been played. But I have only to hold it to realise that the flute is not for me and I’ll stick to whistles!! To answer your comment/Q in your UIE listing, supporting a flute in playing position is not at all awkward if you (are shown/learn how to) do it right. In fact, it’s easier and more secure than a large whistle or recorder IMO. I hope that’s not the only thing putting you off…

I wished I had seen this ad earlier! I have smallpipes by John Rutzen and the are expertly made and sound wonderful. I would love to get one of his flutes.
