Hi, I recently got an Abell D (thanks Michael!) that I really like a lot and I don’t need a second D whistle, so I’m letting the Humphrey go. It is a lovely little whistle with all the qualities heard in a good Generation D, but with none of their quirks. It is an older design, Gary told me that he isn’t making this design for a number of years. It plays a lot like a Sindt. The whistle has two very slight dents that are only visible against the light, and the end of the tube is a wee bit out of round, but those things are only optical, no influence on playability or tone. I have 100€ in it which is what I’d like to get back, plus shipping. I’m at work right now, so I can’t take a photo, but the whistle looks basically like a brass tube with holes, patina and a black mouth piece on it. ![]()
Let me know if you’re interested!
Cheers,
G.
My apologies to Gabriel.. Spontaneous thought ended up “in print”..
My whistle is this very one: https://forums.chiffandfipple.com/t/fs-gary-humphrey-d-sold/76179/1
So, no, I’m not being funny neither. ![]()
As a side note, a new trad D from Gary sets you back $120, which after taxes and duty end up in about 110€ if imported to Germany, plus shipping across the pond which is about $40, even for a single whistle (yes, it is, ask Gary). So given the fact that this type of whistle isn’t made anymore, I think 100€ is a fair price. Not that I have to justify myself…but highjacking my thread wasn’t nice.
