I’ve finally decided to part with my Grinter, which I bought from a fellow forum member last May. He’d had it from new for 2 years, so it’s only 3 years old.
There are no issues with this flute, it’s almost as it came out of the workshop, it’s just that I enjoy playing my Fentum I recently had refurbished by Chris Wilkes.
It comes complete with original Grinter rexine covered wooden case and blackwood grease pot

So it was you: I also just had my Fentum 78 Strand restored by Chris Wilkes, and he mentioned that he had just restored one a little while before that. Does yours have an ivory ring by any chance? Could you tell me more about your Fentum? Thanks!
And finally, just curious, but why does the Grinter not tempt you mroe than the antique Fentum?

If the seller is a great player the flute will sound great. If he’s not that accomplished then the flute might not sound like much, but it could still be a fabulous flute. I really don’t see that, with regard to fluting, a clip would tell you as much about the flute as it would tell you about the player.
Hi, if I can work out how to upload a video I’ll do it but I’m afraid it would show more of my inadequacies as a flute player than the brilliance of the Grinter!
At the moment I’m a better fiddle player than flute player, and spend more time with the fiddle and whistle than the flute. The Fentum is sufficient for my needs: playing in my kitchen and the occasional session.
Yes, the Fentum has a silver lip plate into which CW inserted a faux ivory bushing, as when I bought it there was a void under the lip plate.
