I am selling a couple of gouges I never seem to use. They were part of the long road of experiments and didn’t quite meet my needs or didn’t make any discernible difference to reed outcomes.
The #4 is quite narrow for a normal gouge and would mostly suit working narrower slips for flat pitch chanters. It has been specially set by Cillian O’Briain to allow more directional control (Wha?) Very sharp.
The #5 is a plain incannel, as new, used it a couple of times, but found no difference between using it and my narrower #5. Also very sharp.
£20 each + postage. Please pm me or email me. Thanks.
Fel: I sharpen with oil and a fine grain slipstone (Aluminium Oxide?). I get them set (pretty much as Joe mentioned) by a skilled toolmaker about once a year after my sharpening stone has made the cutting gradient a bit wonky.
