A very odd whistle made from horn. It came in a package from Germany, with many antique and odd things. Nice well bored holes, about 6 inches long (3x5 index card in picture for scale) Anyone ever seen anything like this?!
It has a wonderful breathy sound, but I’m not really good enough to give it a nice home (still learning on a slightly squeaky Walton D) For Sale or will trade for shinies or instructional videos/cds/books.

It’s a Gemshorn (pronounced with a hard “G” as in “garden”). Plays like an ocarina, probably fingers like a recorder. The pitch depends on the internal volume as well as length, so you’d have to specify the key.

Thanks. I’ve never seen anything remotely like it! I hope it’s still okay to post here?
I’m not sure what the key would be actually, I’ve really barely learned which end of the whistle you’re supposed to blow in, but it sounds remarkably like the ancient cave whistle on npr
