FS/FT CB, M&E, Hawkes

So I bought that Grinter on the used board; so along with my 8-k M&E ebonite flute that I’m pretty happy with, i’m pretty set. So some of these others can go; I’m up for trades (or trade plus cash, either way), especially if you have an F Chieftain whistle. Otherwise, i’m looking for an F whistle or an Eb wood flute or anything interesting from Murray/Grinter/Olwell/Doyle.

Casey Burns mopane D nice flute, nice tone, good intonation, has a small chip in one of the wood rings, but I touched it up with some acrylic and I’ve had it now for months and it seems stable to me. No slide or rings; they cost new $600; I’ll trade or look for something in the $450 range.

M&E polymer D got an 8-key, don’t need this one anymore. It’s an older one, no cork on the tenons, but has a tuning slide and sounds good; i prefer the tone of M&E’s polymer to delrin flutes. Price new before M&E started sale prices was over $500, the IFS has one marked down to $389, so I’ll go trade or $325. (fyi, last I talked to him, Mr. Cronnolly is considering retirement, so get them while they’re still cheap…)

M&E ebonite D this was my main travel flute until I got the 8-key M&E. I don’t really want to sell it, and I’m sure I’ll regret it (the same way I did when I sold my ebonite F flute) but I hardly ever play it now and somebody should get some use out of it. Same deal here; sounds great Ruddal design in ebonite with fully-lined head and tuning slide.

Hawkes and Son D so i loved this flute when i bought it from David, but i’ll be honest, to play it at A440 i had to pull the tuning slide out farther than i was comfortable with, so i switched to the M&E (which doesn’t sound as strong but is easier for me to play). Everybody’s embouchure is different; David says it plays a strong A440 for him. Anyway, i love the tone i can get from it and i’d keep it just to play it myself, but i paid a lot of money for it–$2,000–and that’s a lot of dough to just sit on. Anyway, make me a reasonable offer or trade and get an antique 8-key flute that sounds great and plays well all the way down to the bottom C.

pm or email me for photos… i’d be willing to trade my ebonite Eb flute for a wood one, and i thinking about selling my blackwood (thinned head) McGee too.

Cheers,
eric
