I need to reduce the number of whistles as the collection is growing out of proportions and I have found my favorites whistles.
-Seems the WHOA is cured (for now at least).
I am putting a number of whistles up for sale or trade here, there are no prices so give me offers if you are interested. Also,
the list of whistles is a bit long so I have not taken any photos. Please PM me if you are interested and I will take a photo of
the whistle you are interested in.

Iâm keeping two Copelands, an Eb in Sterling SIlver and a Brass D. Both of them are absolutely beautiful. Iâm also keeping
a Busman D in Cocobolo, an Overton Low D, a Chieftain F, a Hammy Hamilton Low D and a Generation Bb to name a few.
Yes, Iâm keeping the 12 whistles that are my favorites and intend to let go of the other 24 that was on the list. The last acquisition was the Oz Whistle but I realized that my Busman is better even if the Oz is a great whistle. I think another reason that Iâm letting go of all those whistles is that as I am getting better at playing I can make almost any whistle sound decent but at the same time my demands are getting higher. For me it really seems like there was such a thing as a cure for WHOA.. -At least temporaryâŠ
Oh, and yes. I do have another instrument. I started my musical career by playing bass guitar and I still have the guitar somewhereâŠ
As the system wonât let me update my original post hereâs an updateâŠ

Just out of interest, what is the chieftain A like? Is it the new v3? Would you be interested in trading it for a non tunable low G V3 chieftain (bought one month ago)?
Also, I can see that the Harper Classic has goneâŠI have the Harper Engraved and always considered it a high end whistle- I was just wondering if it is generally considered âmid endâ and if so, why? Because mine cost me ÂŁ110 which I thought was pretty high for a whistleâŠunless I got ripped off?
The Chieftain A is of the same design as the older NR model. I would consider it an easy player, much easier than the high D
of the same design. PM me if you still are interested in trading your V3 low G. I havenât tried the V3 so I am curious to try one out.
RE The Harper. I am sure some people consider it a high end whistle and IMHO it kind of balances at the top end of the mid range.
The engraved model is a bit more expensive too, so that might push it over the edge to the high end range. When you get above
what you paid for the Harper Engraved you are definitely in the high end where you find names like Copeland, Rose, Busman
OZ Whistles etc which are in a class of their own. If looking for a used Copeland you can easily end up paying more than twice
of what you paid for your Harper.

I would associate âhigh endâ with high quality. Not necessarily with high price. And where feeling ripped off is concerned, only you can decide about how you feel about your purchase and itâs price-quality relation.
As far as the Harper classic goes (I bought it), it is very well made BUT most of the time it also clogs before you get beyond the repeat of the first part of a tune, so itâs really no use if you want to play a selection of music in one go, without stopping to clear the windway all the time. It is also very poorly balanced where wind requirements and sound/volume are concerned once you get above gâ (we could argue about whether or not that is a matter of taste. I like responsive and nimble and think a well made instrument should be well balanced.). Itâs basically nice enough from D to gâ. Beyond that, well, less so.
From reviews given here, I would have expected a lot better. Unless I can resolve the clogging issue and the attending extreme sensitivity to anything stuck in the windway, I donât find a lot of satisfaction in playing it.
No poor reflection on Anders by the way who was always straightforward and handled the sale immaculately (two days after sending the payment the whistle made it, well wrapped, from Sweden to the West of Ireland).
My curiosity about the Harper is thoroughly satisfied though.
I would be interested in a Generation D as my music store does not carry them. The international shipping concerns me though. Any idea how much it would be to ship to the states? Iâd rather not pay $40 in shipping for a $15 whistle
