FS: 21 String Lap, or Folk, Harp with extras ...

(Since folks aren’t used to the new Used Instruments Sale/Trade board, I’m posting this here as well.)

For Sale:

21 String Lap, or Folk, Harp
Made in 2003 by luthier Chris Foss, of Songbird Dulcimers.
21 Strings. With tuning wrench.
$300, plus shipping.

It has a lovely sound, and is a beautiful little thing. Alas, I have only so much time and energy to devote to my hoard …er… collection of instruments I’m already learning/playing. Someone should have this little gem to love and to hold, and to make beautiful music together.

Extras included with this sweet small harp are Sylvia Woods’ “Teach Yourself to Play the Folk Harp” DVD and matching book. These are highly regarded, and none too cheap to come by, but I was lucky enough to have been given both, so will include them free with the purchase.

Please PM me if interested.

It looks like a sweet little thing. If I didn’t already have a Harpsicle that serves my needs well as a travel harp, I’d seriously consider it.

What is the wood? Is it maple?

Redwolf

I believe it is maple. I hate to part with it, but I have no time to dedicate to learning yet another instrument right now, and someone ought to playing it.

That looks like a Maple body with a Birch sound board and back. FWIW, from someone who builds harps and dulcimers for a living, those are nice little harps and that’s a very good price.

Thanks for your input, Harpmaker! I think you are right about the Birch with the Maple. I know you are right about the price.

The price is excellent! You can’t even get an unlevered Harpsicle for $300 these days. If someone’s looking for a starter harp, this is an outstanding deal.

You know, it might be worth your while advertising this at The Harp Column. So often people come in asking about those awful Pakistani harps…it would be nice to point them toward something like this. I think it’s $20 for non-members to advertise, but it might be money well invested.

Or eBay. I have a search that emails me whenever lap harps (not rosewood) show up. Set the reserve and let it roll.
