Frontier Designs TranzPort wireless control of Transcribe!

For those of you using Transcribe! to slow down and transpose recordings of tunes, and don’t particularly like having to sit at your computer to practice, I want to recommend a new wireless controller that can make using the program much easier to use and allow you much more freedom as to where you do your practicing.

The controller is called “TranzPort” and is by Frontier Designs:

Its a wireless device, connects to the system with a small USB receiver. The device appears to whatever program you use as a MIDI device, with programs like Transcribe! that support MIDI controllers, each switch and control on the device can be programmed for a particular function in the program. Supports both Mac and Windows systems. Range is supposed to be something like 100 feet, uses RF, so it doesn’t require line-of-site view to your PC. Power is supplied by 4-AA batteries, which are supposed to give something like 100 hours of continuous use, the device automatically powers down when not in use.

This allows me to start/stop play, set markers, set selections, slow down or speed up the playback, etc. all remotely.

The device also has very robust support for DAW programs like Sonar4 and ProTools, if you’re into multitrack recording, including remote monitoring of levels and track information on the backlit LCD multi-line display.

I bought mine at Guitar Center for $199.00+tax.

If anyone is interested, I’d be happy to email you my Transcribe! MIDI commands setup file for the device.

I have no connection with the company other than being a very happy owner of the device. I bought it yesterday afternoon, and in less than an hour this morning, I had it fully configured and customized for Transcribe!. Its a very nice product.

Cheers,

Michael
