From a DVD to the Slowdowner ??

G’day all,I did’nt really know WHERE to post this but being a Fluter,I thought I’d post it here…
Does anyone know if its possible to take a music segment from a DVD and put it into the Amazing Slowdowner to use ???
In the great movie,“The Secret of Roan Inish”,theres a tune called Farrell O’gara…Theres quite a few sites around that have the dots for this tune but none of the settings are as nice as the one in the movie and I’d love to learn it…any ideas folks ??
All the best to yers…weedie…

Weedie, check your PMs.

Why not just record it directly from movie with mp3 recorder? You can load the .mp3 file then in SlowDowner. Just watch out for the intellectual property rights police knocking on yer door!!

It is possible to extract the audio stream from the DVD with certain programs. You can load them into any slow downer afterwards. You will have to find such a program yourself though, as the legal situation regarding such things is anything but clear.

Another possibility is to play the DVD and record it from your line-out jack of your sound card to a recorder. Depending on your soundcard, you can even route the output back to the input and record “what you hear” directly on your computer with an appropiate software.

I think that audacity can record the audio portion of some movie files. It works on anything that you get from youtube. Just play it and use the “what you hear” option and audacity records it. works for me, but ymmv.

Thank you Ronbo,Gabriel and Flutered…
Mt Guru has come to the rescue once again and is sending me the tune so I can put it into the slowdowner directly…a big thanks to MT for this…
The Mp3 recorder sounds like a good idea though…I that will be a thing for me to get happening…
well done y’all…weedie…

Can you please tell us where is this “what you hear” option? (in which menu). The closest thing I could find was “import audio”. It is set in another language, but it should be something similar or the literal translation.

Thanks

Romulo, I think it’s only a specific option in the control panel for SoundBlaster cards. On my machine it’s actually called “What U Hear”. It’s not a part of Audacity.

But if you have a “loopback” or “duplex” control on your sound card, you can probably do the same thing. It just feeds the audio output of the card back into the recording input of the card.
