free water

I’m in the lobby of one of the buildings with air conditioning (since mine doesn’t have any), doing homework.

I got a dollar and went across the room to buy a Diet Pepsi, but when I pushed the Diet Pepsi button, a bottle of Aquafina water came out. I was disturbed, because I didn’t want water, but then a couple seconds later, my Diet Pepsi came out, too.

So now I have two things to drink, both for a dollar.

now now there cran…should you not return the bottle of water which you did not pay for??

:smiling_imp:

There’s nowhere to return it to.

And besides, I already drank it.

there must be a telefon-nr on the dispenser, you could always get their address and send them the cash…

I used my last four quarters to buy it with (although I have a roll of dimes back in my dorm).

well there you go.

Well, there is one way Cran can return the water…might have to wait half an hour or so… :astonished:

You = weird, my friend.

weird=good :smiley:

ashes to ashes, wizz to wizz

“free water” + 1/2 hour = “pee water”

Between the $ you lose in vending machines, and the rarer freebie, I feel pretty certain in still comes out in favor of the vendor.

 Just like Vegas.

You should keep the roll of dimes with you. It makes an excellent weapon, especially if you are in a state where yawara sticks are illegal. Clutch it in your fist to deliver a much harder punch without injuring your hand. If there are repercussions, just break the coins out while its in your pocket and throw away the paper - you’ve got a pocketful of loose change. So what?

WEll Cran, no matter how anyone feels about the vendor and costs, your baldder and kidneys are going to be much happier - sodas are hard on them, and an equal ammount of water will help dilute the nasties. Consider it a gift.

Naw, the vendor is fine.

The last guy just didn’t kick the machine hard enough when his water got hung up.

Well Cran getting two for the price of one is safe but trying to get one for the price of none can be fatal.

From the 2001Darwin awards:

(12 December 1998, Canada) A man crushed beneath a vending machine while trying to shake loose a free soda? If you thought it happened only in Urban Legends you’re wrong!

Kevin, a 19-year-old Quebec student, killed himself at Bishop’s University while shaking a 420-kilogram Coke machine. He had been celebrating the end of final exams with friends. He died beneath the soda machine, asphyxiated, with a blood alcohol level slightly over the legal driving limit.

Kevin’s last act was committed in vain. “Even as it fell over, the vending machine did not let out a single can,” the coroner reported. Soda-holics take note! The report also states that toppled vending machines have caused at least 35 deaths and 140 injuries in the last twenty years.

Be careful Cran!

I thought about that as well

I’m sure that Cran could charm his way out of trouble though

Slan,
D.

I figure I’ve lost better than $20 in machines through the years; I think in that time there were three freebies.

Cran, I figure I paid for your water, so enjoy it’s memory free of any nagging guilt.

–James

You could have mailed it to a hurricane victim.

There is next to no way to pay for something you accidentally get from a vending machine. You can assuage your guilt, though, by donating the value to a worthy cause. Drop a buck in the Katrina fund nearest you and consider your karma to have been adjusted.

Even if you do nothing, that machine is going to get its revenge on you eventually, Cran. They always do.

Next time, drink water. Soda sucks the calcium out of your bones.
