Man, it was hot in North Carolina this weekend! I spent the day indoors painting the hallway. The nice part, though, is that at night, when it cools off enough to go outside, you get to hear all those great summer night sounds.
Tonight I played my banjo on the deck with my little mp3 player/recorder running. I got some nice clips, complete with crickets, frogs and distant barking dogs. The only problem is, each clip has the noisy clatter of me handling the recorder at the beginning and end. I’d like to edit these files to chop off the junk.
Does anyone know of a free or inexpensive mp3 file editor I might use to do this?
OK, I feel pretty dumb now. I use Audacity a lot already, but I thought once you exported to mp3, that was it. I see now that you can open and edit those files also. Thanks, Denny!
I don’t know if Audacity decodes and re-encodes to wav internally. But mp3DirectCut operates directly on the mp3, so there’s no loss of quality. Great for the kind of quick trim that you described. Lots of functionality packed into a little programming marvel at only 170KB for the whole application. And the creator, Martin Pesch, is a nice guy.
