On March 7th, to kick off the St. Patrick’s Day season, hang onto your seatbelts… don’t miss this one, Alan Morrisroe returns as our session host, and as a further treat Alan will offer a FREE…yes really… pre-session concert from 7:30-8:30. Iris will play guitar and maybe a bit of harp. This is a celebration of the official release of our first CD, “Old Irish Melodeon Masterpieces”. This is from the live recording done last year at IAANJ.
Alan will also be bringing along his friend Paddy Joe Tighe, who is a well known fixture in the music in Co. Mayo. He is another dynamic box player and also well known as an excellent ballad singer and song and tune collector. He is a brilliant musician, and historian, and he really should be heard. Alan has acquired many of his rare tunes from Paddy Joe and Paddy Joe’s mother who also played melodeon. Doors will open at 7:00 for the pre-session concert.
For the CD release, at all the parties (and if you can’t make IAANJ, we will also be at Landmark Tavern in NYC 3/9 and Dempsey’s Pub in NYC 3/10) We will have a “recession special” of $10.00 on the CD for all who attend the party or parties. We also hope to drop in at St. James Gate in Maplewood 3/8, and the same price will hold there and until after the CD release events are done next Tuesday. Regular price is $15.00, so try to catch one of the release events. Alan is like a musical tornado…try and see him, a real experience.
