FREE: Basque tabor-pipe (txistu) to any poor young artist

I’ve had this whistle laying around for 13 years, and never really did much with it, so thought I should just give it to someone who’d enjoy it.

It’s a plastic-bodied 3-hole tabor pipe in a minor scale, with a metal thumbring so it can be played one-handed. About 16" long, marked “Poxpolin”. Tabor pipes are made to be played one-handed, with the other hand striking a drum, string drum, or other instrument.

I’ll happily mail it to any member in the US or Canada. I’d like to prioritize it to someone who really would like to actually play it, and who can’t easily just spend $20-50 buying a new tabor pipe from Susatto, Sweet, or the few other makers. If you receive it and get tired of it, it’d be great if you could pass it on to the next person who might enjoy using it to give them a musical challenge for a bit.

Taborpipes are quite fun, if you haven’t messed with them before. You basically overblow into the second register, and can play a complete octave by jumping from 2d to 3d registers.

Just shoot me a PM if interested, and if you have a compelling backstory as to why you want it I might skip the other PMs to send it to you.

Sending it out to him, hope it serves him well. Tabor pipes are pretty quirky little things, and since people see them so rarely these days they give an interesting impression.

Nice!
