Well, I was surprised the word “fart” got the ol’ asterisk when typing in another forum. Any tame words attempted that got filtered out?
Maybe “fart” translates into some vulgar form of “I love you” in some other language, but I don’t know . . .
Oh well, but then a guy I know had an EEO grievance filed against him for using the word “niggardly”.
It doesn’t take a “bad” word to push some buttons. Another friend had an EEO grievance filed against her for quite innocently starting a sentence with the words “you people”.
Oops! Sorry. I hadn’t realized folks outside the USA might not know about the protocols of grievance the USA government set into place to guard workers’ rights when they think they are being discriminated against.
Yeah, Equal Employment Opportunities.
I used to be an interpreter for the Deaf. Safety talks, union grievances, and EEO grievances used to generate a good part of my paycheck.
Not all words can be censored by a machine. Some words are pretty much vulgar, regardless of context, but most words depend entirely on context as to whether they are offensive.
That said, it is quite possible that the moderators are just having a little fun in what they choose to set the word filter to censor.
Bemused by the “you People” business. I fell foul of that in Kentucky. My intended meaning was “The people in this business company” but that is not what people heard!
