For those who remember

Why isn’t there such a thread here yet?

8th of May in Europe, 9th of May in ex-USSR. The day we all should remember. Remember things which should not ever happen again.

May 5th for most of Western Europe by the way. You’re right about the rest.

The german troops surrendered in Denmark on the 4th, which makes 5th the first day of freedom.

Of course we have to remember that Russia not only made 2 unneeded bombings of the island of Bornholm, but stayed there until spring 1946. (Which makes people on the island celebrate that too)

(It’s a small danish island south of Sweden)

With the Russian Army once more parading through Red Square with their tanks and missiles, ready to once again attack and subjugate its neighbours, it’s a bit of a joke to worry about events so long ago. It is the current monsters that people should pay attention to.

Yes, these things should not happen again. Remembering them reminds us why.

The equivalent is May 26 in the US. Memorial Day.
