If any of you have ever visited Folk Mote Music in Santa Barbara, California, you have probably met Cherie or Nadine (the owners). I have
bought many a whistle from this great music store.
Unfortunately, yesterday, Cherie and Nadine were both crushed in their house in the La Conchita mudslide. They both survived and were dug out of the ruins of their home. Both are in the hospital with injuries.
Please send your prayers and blessings to Cherie and Nadine.

Oh man, that’s terrible. I saw that house on the news. And my daughter goes to college in Thousand Oaks, next to Santa Barbara. That was a terrible storm.
Oh, SHIT, man! I’ve never been there, but have talked to them hoping that they might know about Kate Price’s early albums being re-released. Very cool people, and I hope they make a full and speedy recovery.
Nadine and Cherie are still in the hospital, but are doing much better. They are both beaten up fairly badly and their house is gone.
The local area musicians are planning some benefit concerts to help these two wonderful women out. I’ll post info when it becomes available.

Gee, I will down there in a week or so, when ever we can get dug out of our 44 inchs of snow, here in the desert near Reno. I was planning
on going into that wonderful cool store. I sure hope they will be o.k.

Tom, I’m glad you posted this here – I was thinking about it, but was slow on the draw.
Lolly, Tom Ball and some other friends of Cherie and Nadine’s are keeping Folk Mote open. Tom sent around an e-mail saying that we can send our good wishes, etc., via Folk Mote and they’ll make sure Nadine and Cherie get them. They’re also willing to help direct monetary donations to help with medical bills, housing, etc.
Last I heard, Nadine should be out of the hospital somewhere around next Tuesday, barring complications. I haven’t heard as much about Cherie – she’s in a Ventura hospital and I’m up in Santa Barbara. (I know Nadine a little better and she is up here in our SB Cottage Hospital.)
