Foinn Seisiún 1: Traditional Irish Session Tunes

I’ve just downloaded this from Amazon. £4.99 for over 100 tunes can’t be bad ($9.99 for our American cousins).

The sheet music is available tune by tune from the Session:

I wondered if anyone has the sheet music in an easier to print format - a single pdf or all the abc files in one handy set…

It (and the other two in the series) used to be available in book form from comhaltas.ie I got copies in Custy’s in Ennis a year or so ago - perhaps they have some in stock…

[Edit: Just checked Custy’s site and they advertise the books as available]

Best wishes.

Steve

I purchased PDFs of all three volumes through their website (here) a few years ago, but I don’t see option offered any more. You might try contacting them (email is on the page above)…

Pat

Thanks, but Custy’s only sell the book with the CDs as a pack for €30. Considering the tunes cost about €6, that’s quite a lot for a book of traditional (non copyright) music…

Thanks Pat. 10 Euros is a lot more reasonable.

Didn’t check the details. When I was there they had the books sans CD.
Plus, Andrea was there signing copies so maybe I was distracted.

Best wishes.

Steve

Thanks for the tip-off. I am downloading Foinn Seisiún 2 from Amazon now.

Some curious price options for vol 2

  1. Amazon is offering the CDs for £41.66 !!!
  2. Comhaltas web site says 15 euros plus P &P for the CDs (but not clear if they have it)
  3. Download £4.99 from Amazon
  4. Download all individual tracks (slightly smaller files though) from the Comhaltas web site for Free (go to the page in the ‘shop’ for the CDs)

At 5p per tune I went for 3 rather than 4.

On the CD (a friend has it) the tracks are set up so that each set of tunes runs continuously. The files on the comhaltas web site are chopped into tunes but can be but-jointed together (in Audacity or similar) to play as sets. I guess the download is the same.

For those in the U.S., CD Baby also sells the books, $15 each.

I know you are buying the book but if you ever want to merge PDF files, there is a free online PDF merger:

http://foxyutils.com/mergepdf/

I use this to merge all the tunes I’ve downloaded in PDF format from the ABC sites and end up with one big PDF which I put on the iPad.
