It has been a very long time since I’ve visited the forum. I’m happy to say that after several years, I’ve learned a lot from some great teachers, and I’m playing much more often.
I am looking into purchasing a new flute. I apologize if there is a reference to this elsewhere, just been a long time. Are flutes/instruments for sale on a separate part of the forum? Thank you.
It’s only two years since yer last post… not that long.
The Used Instrument Forum is good to watch. However, as no one but the OP is allowed to comment many of the sales threads there are cross posted to the appropriate forum for the instrument.
Someone will be along in a bit to ask you a few questions about what yer looking for in a flute.
…and don’t forget to look at Doc Jones’ Irish Flute Store web site: http://shop.irishflutestore.com/Flutes_c3.htm
Doc usually has a good selection of flutes available. Good hunting.

Yes, thank you very much. I have received a couple of messages, and then somehow I ‘stumbled’ on to the forum for selling instruments.
At least, may I ask here on the forum----I’m looking for a flute that is the same width up and down. I know that sounds terribly…oversimplified, but I’m not an Irish flute expert, only a hobbyist. so many people here know a lot more.
Like a pencil, instead of one with the head joint larger than the rest of the flute. I don’t mind a lighter, brighter sound, I know that has something to do with the size and shape of head joint and embouchure?
I’ve played the silver flute for 40 + years, so the offset keys are helpful. My current Irish flute has offset holes. I don’t have enough knowledge to be choosy about embouchure shapes, etc.
