Actually, I’d say that with regards to volume, my point holds true as well : Put just about anything in Peter Molloy’s hands and it’s going to be loud, where as the same flute you or I might only be able to get an average sort of volume from.
That aside (because you may not agree with me), and having owned both a seery and a Healy (plus I’ve played a couple addional of each) I’d say IMO most Healy’s will be capable of more volume than most Seery flutes. I say most because I did play one older Healy (with repaired cracks) that was rather tame.
Still, I think that, particularly as you get into the bigger bore, bigger hole flutes, the player, more often than the flute, is the limiting factor when it comes to volume.
