Hi I want to go to a flute summer camp for summer 2010.
I am ABRSM grade 8, play in the top orchestra in my highschool (private), and have been playing for six/seven years.
I am considering Tanglewood, Interlochen, New England Conservatory, etc…
Other than that, somebody recommended smaller music camps, such as Kinhaven, Point Counterpoint, Sewanee Music Festival, Brevard music, and Chautauqua summer music…
Anybody know which ones are hard to get in, and if they are experiences for flute playing? Also, will these camps impress college admission officers?
Hi, aurumite. This forum doesn’t focus so much on the modern orchestral metal flute, but more on simple-system wooden ones such as are played in specific types of music such as Irish or Scottish traditional, Baroque, Charanga, etc.
Anyone here who can direct aurumite to a site more appropriate to his/her needs?
I was fortunate to have attended Interlochen at about your age, and have since considered it to have been a pivotal moment in my musical life. I recommend it!
