Just a little inspiration for those of us in the dry winter zones that would like a change from the old “tupperware container with a loose fitting lid” thing.

I wanted to have my flute live in my bedroom this winter so I started searching for a nice looking container that would not empty my wallet. I looked at humidors but couldn’t find any inexpensive ones that would accommodate a Pratten style middle section. Then I found this really inexpensive bamboo bread-box on Amazon! I only have one flute so there is still enough space inside for either a damp sponge or half a loaf of rye bread.

I think that is great idea since the flute is always at hand. I wish I had thought of it.

Thanks for the idea. I’ve been thinking about a humidifier solution; this looks good.

Brilliant!

Now what they need is one for a 32" long loaf of French Bread or Baguette. Could store the flute in one piece.

I use a traditional wooden rain barrel. Does the job, no need to take the flutes apart

Yes, that’s the one. $23.99 is really cheap for a bread box! If the hygrometer reading is too low this winter i figure I will add a couple of felt seals (or maybe a few slices of sprouted grain bread).

By the way, that’s a nice plate of flutes Holmes! All you need is some marinara sauce and garlic bread to go with it!
