I was in Brussels last week and noticed a Musical Instruments history museum. They have a lot of old flutes – some Rottenburghs and even a Raffi. I was curious, though, about one from the mid-late 18th century by someone named Thierriot. He’s almost certainly a distant relative. (My ancestors came to the new world in the 1660’s, so not a direct ancestor.). Anyone have any info on him?

Yeah, it was just serendipity that I found it. I ran from my hotel to a park and noticed it on the way back. Unfortunately it wasn’t till my last day there (at 5 PM) that I ran to a further park and discovered the national art gallery, which evidently has a permanent collection of Magritte. I was SOOOO cheesed off at myself. It’s two blocks from the musical instruments museum.
Cheese, don’t you just hate it? Good tip, though! I’ll be there in the Spring. It’s now on my agenda! 
Yep, me too. I’d gone specifically to see the Magritte collection (and The Death of Marat by David). Exited the art museum, turned left and … wow. I also only had a few hours, but you could easily spend an entire day with the self-guided tours and the library collections. Someday. I’ve never seen so many accordions, bagpipes, and keyboard instruments in my life.
