Hi, I just received an Olwell bamboo flute a week ago. I already got some ok sounds out of itand can even play the scale (though not so well). Could someone recomend a flute tutorial or two and maybe even offer a beginner some advice.

Embouchure (how you hold your lips) is the most difficult thing to learn (at least in the beginning) and you’ll have days when you can’t get a single note out. You just have to keep at it.
As for tutorials, since fingerings are the same, a whistle book (Bill Och’s comes to mind) wouldn’t hurt, I’d say. I’m sure others will have better reccomendations.
Mel Bay is about to come out with Grey Larsen’s big new guide to Irish tin whistle and flute playing; by all accounts this will be an excellent tutorial.
