Flute Bling redux

Might be a little over the top, but I like the way this new cap I got off e-bay jazzes up the top of my Somers Delrin flute:

(please excuse the crappy smart phone picture). According to seller the stone set in cap is an emerald, but I have serious doubts about that.

I think that looks really cool.

If it’s really emerald, you’d want to remove it, sell it and put another gem that costs less and looks the same…

Yes, have no idea how to tell if it is real. I’ve checked in under a halogen with a loupe, but didn’t see any natural looking inclusions (just spheircal ones), so my guess is glass. Would be pretty cool if the stone was real though. Guess I’ll have to take it to a jeweler to be sure. Think I like it either way.

A real emerald that size on a Delrin flute is truly gilding the lily… My bet is that it’s glass, or hard plastic.

But it still looks really cool. I especially like the silver knotwork.

Why is that flute hiding in the Juniper bushes?

Perhaps the emerald is trying to blend in…

Best wishes.

Steve

Having trouble learning this jig because of the lack of a G# key…

THE JUNIPER

Oh nice tune. Thanks, I’m going to learn it. Fortunately I have a G# key. I experimented with trying maneuver around the G# and there are variations that work. Although it looses a bit in the translation it’s not too bad. PM me if you want a transcription.

If it is just for solo, you could change the key…

X: 1
T: Juniper
M: 6/8
L: 1/8
R: jig
K:Gaj

Okay, Latticino, I said to PM me if you wanted a transcription, but I wanted to see if I could figure out how to display music here like you did. This is one way to play this tune without the G#. I think the “A” is okay, but if I had more time to fuss with it I think the “B” could be a bit less awkward.
