Hey Guys!! I’m looking for the album Flook Live! , with Michael McGoldrick in the band, anyway I don’t want to buy the album, but I want to find some sound samples from that album, I heard this album is awesome so I want to hear some of the talent. Thanks a million!!
I have the album on CD. It does have some very nice moments but the downside is that it was recorded straight to DAT off the gig sound desk.
Has some amazing flutter tonguing/articulation played with three flutes! However, on balance though I feel that there is almost too much going on at times with Mike McGoldrick’s more refined and relaxed playing being slightly overwhelmed by an excited Brian F! This is of course partially due to the ‘live’ mixing of the recording.
While out-of-print, there do seem to be some still out there. I’ve seen it offered for $18.70 . Afraid I won’t post any samples from mine, nor am I aware of any on the web. Here’s the track list though.
1 - Branohm/Trip to Herve’s
2 - Knocknamoe jig/Custy’s/Trip to Brittany
3 - Jizique
4 - Brian’s reel/Peter’s epic journey
5 - In another life
6 - Blackberry blossom/The independence
7 - History man
8 - Dub reel
I’m sure you can find some official samples of Mike McGoldrick’s playing from his CDs, and of the other Flook albums.
They have made another live CD - “The Four of Us”, I believe it’s called, which was only made in quite a few copies. Except for Flutopia, I can’t remember which tracks are on it, though…
Maybe you should ask one of the band. There is a guestbook or a contact email on their site www.flook.co.uk. I have found in the past that Sarah Allen is very helpful.
