Flaxseed oil.

I just noticed Flaxseed oil (linseed oil) for sale in the health section of one of our local supermarkets, would there be any problem using this to oil a wooden flute?
I mean, is it processed the same way as the flaxseed oil that is sold in music shops?

Same oil; probably cheaper and a larger bottle, too. Because it’s a food oil, there should be no additives or processing (beyond what it takes to press the oil from the flaxseed), and that’s all for the best. High in Omega 3s, as well, if you add it to your salad dressings!

I know that’s where I got my Flaxseed oil… in a health food supermarket. Pat Olwell had sold me a boxwood Flute and this was one of the oil’s he recommended. I always thought it had a nice fragrance, and the Flute always seemed to sound better after I used it, but really this would be the case with any oil I guess.
The Flaxseed oil I got at the supermarket had a very short life under a year if I remember correctly.

PS Whale Oil of course is my preference, but then you’ve got the whole whale carcass to deal with!

Thanks Fandango,
The whale oil is a good suggestion, but I’m afraid my wife would be a ‘blubbering’ wreck if I was to haul a carcass into the fridge!

LOL
not to mention theres only so many whale steaks, whale Alfredo and Whale salad sandwiches you can eat :boggle:

just kidding of course, I find the whale killing to be deplorable as I know probably everyone on this list does :frowning:
