First post Hello

Hello there everybody!
First post in this forum, but I didn’t find a place to introduce me. Please excuse possible mistakes in my language, I am from Germany and my english lessons were some times ago.

Well, I play the tinwhistle for some months now and created a youtube channel as some kind of “diary” for myself, but although as a possibility to get some critics by better players. So, feel free to comment and I hope you have fun while listening, even if it is nothing special :wink:

Hi Tarin, and welcome!

Lots of people to learn from and ask here,
There’s clips and snips, a tune archive sent in by fellow whistlers: http://www.tinwhistletunes.com/clipssnip/

You can always post a link to your you tube site here too.

Chris

Hi,

oh, I forgot the link to the channel. That explains the new thread instead of my post in the YT Thread. Thanks to the admin! :smiley:

My Channel is http://www.youtube.com/user/WhistlesOnTin

Welcome Tarrin

:slight_smile: Yes-welcome Tarin! :laughing:

Welcome Tarin.

And, since you did say to feel free to comment …

… just one: SLOW DOWN. You’ll never catch the bus anyway, and you’ll get there more surely at a steady walk.

@benhall.1
Yeah, I know. Especially in the older recordings I played much too fast. My version of the silver spear is… crap. Wanted to play so fast like all the others and it didn’t work :wink: I’m practicing much slower at the moment, especially the harder tunes.

Excellent! You’ll be grand.

And, again, welcome to the board.

Welcome, Tarin!

This is a fun place to be, as most players here don’t take themselves too seriously, and the ones who do usually have a right to–and give advice compassionately.
As for playing too fast–if you can, try to get ahold of some recordings by Joannie Madden or Cherish the Ladies. They play at what I feel is the perfect speed; they make you want to tap your foot, but not at the frenetic pace of some recordings I hear. I have no desire to play that fast.
It’s the “bounce” of Irish music more than the speed that makes people want to clap.

Welcome to the forum, from another beginner.

Thanks for posting your diary, it takes more nerve than I have!!

Your fave youtube flick (Heinecken) is good, I’ve not laughed so much for a while!!! :laughing:

Dave

@Riverman
Thanks I’ll try to get some records!

@Fidget
I’m not sure if I understood the last part about my diary. If you mean: Thanks, I wouldn’t dare to show such skills to the world, but hey, I’m not the only beginner" - then have fun with it, that’s what it was made for :wink:
