“iPod momentum and PC software infections are driving Windows users to switch, says Needham & Co. analyst Charles Wolf in a report.”

As a Mac software developer, this makes me very happy.

As Mac user, it worries me that this may make the Mac more attractive to the sociopaths who spread viruses and such. Supposedly Mac security is better than that of Windows, but I’d just as soon not take part in a test of the system. I’m already pretty paranoid about what I let onto my system, but anyone can slip up or be fooled.

If I had any money, at all, I would totally buy a mac. As it is, I’m in college.

I’ve often thought that if Apple ever ports their OS to run on generic
hardware, I would switch in a heartbeat. Porting doesn’t seem so hard
now that OS X is based on Un*x and Macs are based on Intel CPUs.
I don’t know why I’m reluctant to buy Apple hardware. Maybe I just
don’t like to be limited in my HW decisions.
