Greetings to ye chip & fiflers! I would like to get a fife, just to see if it’s fun or not. So a cheap plastic fife is what I’m looking for. Any recommendations?

http://www.fifeanddrum.com/ is a good place to look for a plastic fife but I’m not in favor of plastic fifes. There are a few fifers here on this list how may chime in also. I went to flute (Irish) since the fife does not a good parlor instrument make.

Bill - thanks for the link. Looks quite useful and informative. I do have flutes, both wooden and Boehm, so the fife is just for having fun and I don’t expect great quality.
I don’t own one myself, but the Cooperman plastic fife for $7 or $8 gets good reviews as the best cheapo starter fife - several folks on this board have said it’s significantly better than their $15 maple one.
