I probably know less than you do about period fifes, but I’ll ask some of my fife and drum buddies and get back to you. That’s a hellacious looking crack down the back, it looks like someone tried to pin it back together.
I think the seller would have mentioned if it had any maker’s marks on it.

I’m getting back kind of late, but from the ferrules and the embouchure hole I’d bet this is a genuine Civil War era (or even earlier) instrument. Someone got a great deal (I think I know who - was it Chester, Linda?).
If the winner is the person I think it is, I’ll report back on the age and condition of the fife.
