Fentum Flute!

Fentum flute

I recently found a Henry Fentum flute, that I am thinking of buying. The problem is that I don´t have any idea of what would be a proper price. It´s identical with this flute from the Dayton C. Miller collection.

And it´s also nice that it is allmost identical with my grinter (the bore is a little bit narrower though) It has two cracks in the head piece, none of them through the embouchure hole and the head is lined. One of them is quite poorly repaired/filled. It has another crack further down, wich is also repaired. The rest of the wood seems to be in good condition. All the keys are in good condition (except for the springs) and it needs repadding. After what I can see from the c#, c and b it plays in modern pitch. Overall I think it could quite easily get into playing condition.
It is stamped H Fentum 6 Surreyse Strand London.

I would be very happy if you have more info about fentum flutes (I´ve searched the forum) and of course if someone have an idea about a fair price of the flute. It would be great to hear from those playing fentum flutes what they think of it.

Mmmmm the old flute is oiled up and even though the keys aren´t working yet I have got some sound out of. Really nice sound as well. Very sweet and bright, and theres still a lot to be done!
