Feast of St Kevin

My French calendar informs me that today is the feast of “Saint Kévin”.

Since the Mudcat is down, I have a chance to beat legendary Gaelic scholar Philippa to the draw, and wish a happy feast day to anyone named Kevin (likewise to any mystics or misogynists lurking in the nettles).

Oh, and, by the way, yesterday was my 55th birthday. I was back in Dublin at the weekend, and read an article about Geoff Wooff in a recent issue of the Irish Independent which mentioned that his waiting list was 14 years. That article probably led to another bunch of orders, so the waiting time has probably grown by another few years. I somehow don’t think I’ll ever become the owner of one of his sets!

Happy Belated Roger!

I think you should order a GW full set right now, and you can always leave it to me in your will if you’re planning on shuffling off this mortal coil before your 70th!

Happy Birthday Roger!
I’ll try not to eat too much today- Must dash- I have a halo to polish!

Head for the nettles, Kevin. You can celebrate by making yourself a nice soup with the young shoots, then use the rougher stems to flagellate yourself in keeping with the Irish monastic tradition.

I have a friend signing Celsius.
Now I’ll know one named Kevin,
Pray, what date is St-Fahrenheit?

Long as we’re commemorating St. Kevin,
I thought I’d post his portrait.

Here he is with the bird that laid the egg in his hand.
They say that he didn’t move his hand till the baby
bird hatched.

Thought for the day,
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush,
but don’t count your chickens before they hatch!

Isn’t it between St. Kelvin’s Day and the Feast
of St. Theobohm the Bald?

And we all know the sort of un-Anglo-Saxon things they do with thermometers in France.

Huh!

Before analising our medics’ customs, pray remind me what’s the original calibration of 100° Fahrtenhei or vice-versa?

Which reminds us of St. Celsius’s Day, 273 after St. Kelvin’s Day.

Btw. Walden, not that I’m a spelling Ayatollah, but please write Sankt Theoböhm or St. Theoboehm–your choice, I’m rather tolerant.

Fahrtenhei? I know it’s probably a typo, but it sounds distinctly scatological to me.

Have that done to you whilst whistling and you’d hit 3rd octave D no problem!! :astonished:

happy birthday roger!!
never mind geoff woof, there’ll be another fella like mike burke popping up with pipes ne’er matched before.
if you won’t believe this, i’ll make you extreeeemely jealouse with my new burke low C comp.(i’ll be broke after this)

Correct–check the context.
Also, over the net, it could only sound, not smell. It’s still a low-tech world.
As for the other typo before, it can only be read–you could call it porno_graphy_ just as well.
