My neighbor has one she bought for her now 50 year old kids when they were young. She is asked me if it had any value. I read the blurb on them on C & F. Not a great player by my estimation, but an interesting piece of history.
The label is gone but the head is unmistakable. Any ideas what I should tell her? I have a picture of the fipple, but no clue how to load it.
One sold on Ebay a few months ago for around $50
But there was only one bid, which means there didn’t seem to be much demand. When it’s a slow market, the price can fluctuate wildly, depending on if anyone’s looking for that particular whistle at that particular time.
If there’s only one person that wants it when you’re selling, you’re kind of stuck with what they’re willing to pay. I’ve seen these sell for much less than $50, too.
$11.00 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/321651792434
Both of those were in good condition with the label. I’ve got one myself, with the label. Even at $50, it’s not worth selling to me…The history of it is worth more than that to me.
Thanks, I am thinking she won’t get much without the label. She has the history of buying it back in the right time period, but no label alas, just a nice sticky spot in the right place LOL. I am not sure what she will do with it. She was going to stick it in the Goodwill box. I don’t know if she wants to bother with ebay. I’ll pass along the info. It is always hard to see a bit of history fall into oblivion…
