Favourite UP CD's

OK here’s something we might be able to get stuck into; (Sorry if its been done before, I searched it, + promptly gave up)
Name your top 5 Uilleann Pipe CD’s / LP’s /recordings
(OK, top 10 if you must)
UP Tracks you just cant do without:

I have 3 main ones:

  1. Lúnasa - Lúnasa

  2. Eoin Dillon - Third Twin

  3. Paddy Keenan - Long Grazing Acre

Lúnasa’s first CD has some absolutely fire-packed Piping in. The first track, uh, Eanáir, has a march so passionately played by Mr. McSherry that the pipes could substitute, and in my opinion beat, the expression and range of the Human Voice. Eoin Dillon, while not traditional in any sense. is extraordinarily relaxing, and his pipes sing. Not many fancy embellishments, just a sweet crooning of the melody, most, if not all, being original.

And Paddy, well… I mean, come on. It’s frickin’ Paddy Keenan.

  1. Any Ronan Browne recordings.

  2. Any Mick O’Brien

  3. Any Brian McNamara

  4. Any Liam O’Flynn

  5. Jimmy O’Brien-Moran

  6. Any Jerry O’Sullivan

I rarely listen to the PK recordings with a great deal of interest any more. Do I need help?
