F.S. - Martin Doyle Traditional Model Blackwood Flute * SOLD

Currently offered for adoption is a very robust playing Martin Doyle Traditional Model made of Blackwood and includes Doyle’s custom leather case. SOLD!

As can be seen this is a very simple and elegant flute. But the tone is so big and fat. I wish I could try playing this flute in a gymnasium (the tone is that BIG). But don’t worry, this is a friendly beast, being fairly easy to play. The flute also has great dynamic range, the power is there if you want it, but she will also play soft and sweet! This flute plays @440 for me with the slide fully shut and the head turned in till the blowing edge is inline with the tone-holes. (Just the way I like it!)

This picture shows the foot of the flute. Look at the size of the bore! There is a choke to the bore after the bottom tone hole and the foot has been “back-bored” to give it a flare. The bottom D can substitute for a Fog-Horn.

This picture shows the very substantial undercutting of the tone holes (perhaps the most extensive I’ve ever seen). This undercutting allows the flute to still be very responsive and play crisply, despite the huge tone.
