You need a fast connection to see this. It’s a bizarre pig version of Little Red Riding Hood from Russia or Japan (I heard Russian, but I saw written Japanese…) or somewhere else. A C&Fer friend who doesn’t post much sent it to me. I had to share it…
Well the Little Red Riding hood portion is definitely NOT japanese, but when it switches to the pig commercial thing, it IS Japanese being spoken.
The credits at the end have mostly western names though. It was probably made by Americans. Couldn’t tell you WHY though, but I suspect drugs were involved.
Cran–I believe this to be art, not craft.
(though well-crafted art, to be sure.)
Also, I think it’s rather clever in the way it twists a classic and exposes the ironic hypocrisies of modern day cleaned-up versions of fairy tales, then juxtaposes that with pop advertising for kids, which also tends to do a pretty bang-up job of disguising the ugly underbelly of food industry and advertising practices.
Actually, I started out bluffing, then realized I really mean that.
Well, as my 12th grade A.P. English teacher Miss Cook used to say when we’d ask her whether she thought that Dickens purposefully seeded Great Expectations with all the meaningful tidbits we students were supposed to be able to dig out of it: “It doesn’t matter whether he did it on purpose or not–the point is that it’s in there.”
The thing about this piece is, it’s too intelligent to be pure bull****, and even if the makers were toking or tippling or hooting or whatever when they put it together (and I doubt it,) they still did a really sharp job.
Or they completed fooled me!

Yeah, I was very impressed with this. The story was layered, and so the animation followed suit. This is the kind of well-thought-out thing that doesn’t come when people are just throwing something together “for the internet.” These people knew what they were doing, and they planned it well and executed it well.
I also thought it was inspired how all of the dialog was in awkward translation. Changes the tone entirely.
