Ewwwww! Don't try this at home...

There’s an article in this week’s Newsweek about British comic Graham Norton who will be having a talk show here in the US shortly. This is apparently on the bawdy side… the article mentions a webcast of a woman playing “God Save The Queen” on a pennywhistle, but not using her mouth. The mind boggles!

In early high school I once saw an Irish music duo of two brothers, one stuck a whistle in his nose and supplied the air, and the other played the fingerings. It was …inspirational*. I later discovered that they were the Dady Brothers, a local performing pair. They have a website - http://www.dadybros.com/ - but I don’t think that the nasal feat is depicted on it.

*Melody pop whistle, drinking straw chanter, slide whistle duet, etc etc…

Soprano or Low Whistle?

Co-incidentally,your other thread today is about a ‘Windway cleaning tool’ :boggle:

I was thinking about a “Fanny Power” joke here until I remembered that this could cause some serious misunderstanding among our American friends so I’ll say nothing…

‘Fanny Power’ had something to do with ‘The Spice Girls’ didn’t it?

You will notice that I am resisting the temptation.

The whistlomane…
casts a new light upon the high end vs. low end (or just expansive) whistles debate.

SPOILSPORT!!!

Dubhlinn, At least console yourself that Generation don’t make a Low ‘D’

I’m ashamed to say (but will admit) that I have tried whistling out of my nose. JUST my nose, though. Not anywhere else.

Hi Amar,
Winston Churchill, I think, once said something along the lines of " Great Britain and The United States of America are two countries divided by a common language."
Bearing that in mind;Yes, I like 'em both.

I once knew a young woman name of Fanny Powers, but she married, and I don’t recall her married name. A name like that could be added incentive to marry young.

sometimes jay leno brings married couples’ names…the combinations of the two names I cannot spell out here, dale would ban me…

I couldn’t resist

There are more effective means of nose-picking.
