Ever Hold a Party?

Discuss.

What’s a party? Like a birthday party? My sister gave me one when I turned thirty. It was in the church hall, with streamers on the ceiling, and there was food and sody-pop. Most of my close relatives came.

This is a fine start.

Anyway, yes, but how did it go??? Like, did Aunt Marge get the vapors from an excess of pie? Dish up the dirt, Walden.

We’ve had a fair number and all have been a success. We’re blessed with terrific friends and family, so we can’t really miss.
When we move into our new house, the room currently called the living room will be our music room-- finally a place to show and play ALL of our instruments: piano, clavichord (from a kit), acoustic and electric guitars, electric and acoustic mandolins, hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer (both from kits), lap harp (kit), various flute, recorders and of course whistles. We’ll have enough space for small house sessions-- one kind of party I can’t wait to throw!

I have held a party with both hands. I haven’t tried one-handed yet. I’m too afraid she’d get away. :astonished:

I do family things sometimes. The last one being the 47th b-day of an almost-family member, with my parents and sister & family in attendance. I guess that’s a family dinner. Not really a party.

The closest I’ve ever come to a party at my house were still family things, for example, when the kids had first birthdays and cake with a candle was a big deal.

We, as in me and my two sibs, have jointly hosted 40th and 50th wedding anniversary fêtes for our parents, with more family in attendance, but those still really aren’t what you probably mean.

I have not made lots of finger foods, set up a tiki bar, and invited a batch of neighbors or acquaintances over for “entertainment.” I’m neither sufficiently outgoing nor confident enough in my hosting skills.
I would make an exception for the Chiff & Fipple World Convention.

Yessss!

C&F Convention at Emmline’s house!!!

road trip!!!

I’ll bring the accelerants and the trebucet.

Don’t park in front of Heather’s house, next door. Sometimes she yells at people.

Oh good, a target.

Iv e lost count of how many parties we’ve held/ hosted/ participated in / crashed/etc

in fact most of our circle of friends hlds one shindig a year: a + b host July 4th, c+d dop Christmas, e+f do newyears, etc. We do Mardi Gras, which isnt always convienent.

Then there’s all the family parties, B-days, graduations, communions, etc etc.
Problem is we’re all musicians, so its more likely we’ll hold the party on a tuesday AFTER the holiday in mention.
AND Ive never felt comfortable asking them to bring their instrumetns and play: its like asking them to come over and work, ya know?

Then there’s all the PARTY-parties  : from what I can remember, we had lotsa fun. Not gonna go there, though. keepin it clean… :sunglasses:
