What I have been wondering is, who are the Europeans in here? It seems to me according to this board,(and also to the offers on ebay) whistles are played a lot more in the USA, or Europeans aren’t using the internet that much. So, where are my fellow Europeans?
Sweetie, they are all over the place here!
Cheers Anna, I don’t feel so lonely anymore now.
I’m a European (Brit), I just happen to be living in the US. I think the reason there aren’t more Europeans is that they’re too busy sending each other text messages via SMS ![]()
Chris.
well Chris, you are right, they are really wasting the sky in Europe sending millions of messages a day.
Do Brits count as Europeans? We might still use pounds, not Euros, but we have to eat French cheese and that!
NickT, Phil Doleman and I are 3 Brits, but I know there’s loads more!
What about the Irish, they even use Euros! And blowins like Peter Laban and Steve Power.
Goll, the board is stiff with them!!
Yeah, makes me wish this board supported voice…I just love accents =)
(who me? I don’t have an accent!
)
Hey Martin if I ever make it to London can I crash at your place??
A friend of mine has gone to europe a few times and I think the next time she goes I am going to try to stow away!

Chris.
Sorry Chris, but if you live in the US, you are no longer considered a European. read and weep!
I am just the same and when I go home to France, even my own mother is saying to me things like “you americans are responsible for global warming!” Ouch, that hurts!
O.
What about the mainland, Belgians, Dutch, Germans, Scandinavians… where are you?
Shwmae
It’s a secret that I live in Europe,
so don’t tell anybody ![]()
No whistles were harmed in the transmission of this communication.

Hi Beth,
Of course, I’d be delighted to have you stay! I have a big house with just little me in it ('cept when my girlfriend is over) and a spare room just for guests! I’m not too far from c=Central London for sightseeing, I’d be delighted to be a tourguide, ot you could just use my place as a base & see things for yourself!
E-mail me if you do decide to come over one day, and I’ll hoover the place!

Hee hee, I got zinging for referring to England as the Mainland, and Ireland as an island off the coast! That 20 miles of channel doesn’t keep us out, not now we have the Chunnel!!
well Martin,
my british friends are still and always talking about “Europe”, when they’re talking about Belgium, as if they are not part of it.
Well I´m Swedish… any other swedish whistlers around the Chiff-board?
/Pan
Europe…
I´m originally from Spain: when I was a child, we were told we were not Europeans, then Spain entered the then Economic European Union and, surprise, we were all Europeans!
Recently I moved to Scotland, where they talked of Europe as if they weren´t part of it. (which sometimes also happens in Spain)
Anyway, I think that being European is more a thing of common history (good and bad), similar cultural facts and plenty of differences. The rest of the stuff, politics, currency, eurocrats… well, just a chapter in Europe history, we´ll see how long is going to last this time…

language may be a barrier to active participation, particularly keeping in mind the difficulties endured by some non-english persons who previously attempted to participate on the C&F Board

I am an American. My great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather came to America from Scotland, though, which is on an island off the coast of Europe. Yes, that is the correct amount of greats.
I think I know for a fact that the reasons there’s less Europeans on the board is because internet use is much lower in Europe. It’s very expensive in Europe, and flat-rate internet fees is just beginning to start in many countries. In Paris they have cable-modem but they’re losing loads of money because people just won’t use the product, and in Germany when you’ve got an ISDN connection you’re “lucky” (in the country side anyway) and pay a by the minute fees. One of the worse countries is actually Ireland, ADSL is getting there slowly, very slowly, and cable modem is available only in Dublin west. Also, ADSL for 150$US/Month, who can really afford? I don’t know about Spain and Italy and Portugal, I’m sure it’s even worse. Oh well, the internet was part of my frustration when I was in Ireland, but things will improve within a year, so expect to see many more Europeans showing up…
Thanks for education. I had no idea that Europeans had these obstacles to accessing the “free” World Wide Web…
I wondered why there weren’t more Irish on this Forum…
Think of the wars, I mean intelligent discussions, we would have here with more folks’ diverse opinions!!!

The problem with Europeans is not the language barrier. The problem is that they talk funny. Also, they never wash their hair, smoke all the time, and they don’t think Ted Williams is worth freezing.
