I would like to ask for your prayers for my very sick 2 year old. She’s been sick now for about 3 months. Right now she’s in the pediatric ICU and she’s been diagnosed with RSV, Pneumonia, and a bunch of other things. She’s stable, and seems to be doing well. Unfortunately I am not able to work while we are here in Portland with her in the hospital, so if you have whistles on order with me I ask for your patience. New orders are still welcome and appreciated, just as long as you know it might take a little longer than usual to get them to you.
I have just finished the development of a replacement model for the Ceol Pro model, so Ceol Pro V2? (or you can suggest a better name if you’d like) The body is aluminum with brass fittings (instead of the original copper) The whistle is quite different from the original. the low D will have a slightly narrower bore than the original (1" in diameter instead of 1 1/8") and the wall thickness is thicker, giving you a slightly more substantial whistle. The thicker wall of the aluminum on this whistle allows me to machine it down a little so that the brass on the mouthpiece and tuning slide is the same outside diameter as the rest of the whistle. You can see some pictures of it at http://www.facebook.com/ethnicwind (I’d add some to this post but I’m writing this from the hospital, so don’t have access to the pics) I’ll add ordering buttons for this new model to the web site when I get home.
Thanks to feedback from some of you on some of my whistles (especially MTGuru) I have addressed a few things people were not happy with.
- The issue a few low whistles had, where covering the lowest hole while playing the top 3 notes of the second octave was causing some strange behavior and tuning problems, has been completely resolved, and none of my low whistles will have this issue in the future.
- I am also making my mouthpieces very smoothly rounded where it goes into your mouth.
- I also have changed the offset on the low whistles to where only the ring finger holes on each hand are offset, and of course you can order with inline holes if that’s your preference.
- I also am keeping my workshop at a perfect 68 degrees to ensure tuning is perfect everytime.
As always I appriciate any feedback/ constructive criticism of my whistles as I am striving to make the best whistles possible. and if anyone has a whistle made by me that they aren’t happy with please allow me to fix/replace it for you, of course at no charge to you.
