Eep, anyone got a capo?

Last night, it was my turn to solo at my music group. I picked up my Tipple flute to sound a practice note before starting my tune. I generate the faintest of notes, then nothing. Again, nothing. Panic time. I crack a joke “maybe I need a capo.” The group is mostly guitar players. The laughter helped me relax enough to eek out my prepared tune. Never did get a solid round note, but the show did go on.

It happens, I was playing a GHB solo with a band the other day on stage and near the end of the tune I had planned to let my blowpipe out of my mouth but I let go of it too soon and had to reach up with oone hand and put it back in.

for episodes like that they make whistles.

If it went on another twenty seconds, I would have picked up one of my whistles instead of holding everyone up. As it was, I started up and apologized and started over. Too bad for my poor performance, it is a nice tune I was trying to get out.

At my group, it fairly common for a guitar player to start up and realize his/her guitar is out of tune, or they needed a capo for that particular tune, so I didn’t feel too bad.
