Eddie Cahill recordings

Hello! Does anyone know where I can get recordings of Eddie Cahill? I got one tune “Boys of Ballisodare” from Brad Hurley (thanks brad!) and would love to hear more!

The only Eddie Cahill recording that I know of is the one he did for Shanachie Records, “Ah Surely!” which was released in the early 1980s. I think he also appears with John Vesey on a couple of tracks of the John Vesey two-CD compilation.

Shanachie re-released many of their albums on CD, but I don’t know if this is one of them–you’d have to check their web site.

BTW, unlike Dennis Cahill, who pronounces his name with a long a, Eddie Cahill’s surname is pronounced with a short a (like the a in “cat”). At least that’s how I’ve always heard it pronounced by people who knew him.

I have that on LP. I looked at the Shanachie site but he is not listed among current Irish artists.

By the 2-CD John Vesey compilation, you mean the Sligo Fiddler CDs? What a great set of recordings!

Perhaps someone reading this thread will remember this one. About a year ago, someone posted either here or to woodenflute a few tracks, maybe a bunch of reels, recorded aeons ago. Unknown players, or at least the players’ identities were in question. Does that ring any bells? I want to find those tracks (MP3s) again. I had downloaded some of them to my old computer but forgot to transfer them to my new one.

Try this. http://www.lafferty.ca/music/irish/flute-geezers/

I was looking for it once myself and I remembered that someone had referred to it as a “geezers” tape so I searched on Google for geezers flute and it came right up.

Yep, the very one. Info available at http://www.sligofiddler.com/index.htm

And there are six or seven tracks there with Eddie Cahill on flute (one with piccolo), playing duets with John Vesy on fiddle.

Exactly what I meant! THANKS!
