Hello! Does anyone know where I can get recordings of Eddie Cahill? I got one tune “Boys of Ballisodare” from Brad Hurley (thanks brad!) and would love to hear more!
Shanachie released an album back when of Cahill called “Ah! Surely.” That’s a name of a reel. Piper Tom Standeven told me he didn’t care much for this record, or that of their friend John Vesey; he was friends with both. The terrific newish double album of Vesey has Eddie on a few tracks, one where Eddie plays piccolo intermittently. It also has Eddie’s solo on the Copperplate reel.
Hmm Kevin I managed to get a listen to this and I can’t say I’m crazy about it too. On a couple of tracks it almost sounds like the flute is being led by the guitar backer’s rhythm. Other times the guitar/zouki seems to hindering Cahill efforts at fresh spontenity/"wild"ness. Mostly not what quite I heard on the little mp3 I got off the internet or that Copperplate track. Only a handful of tracks are particularly nice.
Give me piano accompaniment anytime!
