There was a nice looking, brand new M&E R&R wooden flute (listed as Cocus but looked like Cocobolo) - just curious if anyone here was the lucky winner?

I saw that flute too. I know nothing of cocobolo as a flute wood, but it looked great.

Yeah, beautiful looking flute. Cocobolo is an excellent tone wood, good for flutes and whistles, although many people are highly allergic to working with it - I had wood turning instructor who was so allergic he refused to let anyone in class turn cocobolo when he was around.
I’m not certain what percentage of people have a reaction when playing the finished product, but I suspect it’s about the same as Cocus.

Know one won any of the three M&E items, the wooden flute, plastic flute, and wooden whistle. The reserve was not met. Why anyone would think they could get a new M&E product for so cheap is beyound me. It was a fun dream for a while though.

The wooden M&E did sell - the reserve was met. As I recall it went for $510 and change. I believe the reserve was $500 even.
Unfortunately I didn’t save the item in “My Ebay” so I don’t have a link to the photo. You could always email Michael Cronnolly, I imagine he has a photo he can forward.

Oh wow, thats not a bad price. Last I looked with 5 minutes left it was still at 265 or something like that. Must have been a sniper. Now I wounder if the other two got sold also.

Please note, those ebay sales were by Michael Cronnolly himself, as far as I can tell. I wonder if he’s looking to adjust his prices according to the market.
Yes, I believe it was Michael selling his own instruments, which is not all that uncommon, I recall seeing this several times over the last few years, especially with the wooden flutes. I don’t think this has anything to do with adjusting his prices, just another avenue for sales.
No, the polymer flute didn’t sell, and I don’t believe the whistle met the reserve either, just the wooden flute.

The flutes are sold directly by Michael Cronnelly. I got a polymer R&R (with hard case) off ebay about a month ago for $470, shipping included. By my calculation I came out ahead buying it off ebay. Michael even threw in a CD with 15 tunes, played by himself. I consider it a deal, and I couldn’t be happier with the flute. I even brought it to work with me today.
