I would really like to spew some harsh comments about eBay and U.S. government and law enforcement officials concerning this, but I’ll hold myself back in an attempt to not discuss things of a political nature.

doesn’t really matter about the cookie thing. a person could still fax them pretending to be law enforcement and get all of your information, heh

Removing your account may be harder than you think. I took issue with them a while back because even though my preferences were set to not receive any emails, they kept sending them to my work email. I sent a very polite note to tell them to please stop as it could cause me problems with my employer. 25 emails later I finally got them to cancel my registration by becoming increasingly less polite and moving up the food chain in their “support” dept. Haven’t used them in any form since. Like you I’ve got all my great deals on instruments right here.
