That is one formidable piece of hardware.
Not to mix threads, but Cathal McConnell told a story this past Saturday from several decades ago. He had wanted very much to ‘get’ a particular fiddle tune of which there were no recordings (and more than likely, no one with a record player anyway). He prevailed on the fiddler to play it over and over with, as he put it “…my ear to the f hole on the fiddle for about 2 hours. I sure know that tune as well as any I’ve ever learnt.”
