Dum de dumm dumm-What to do?

-Recent sale of the last of a series of small boats owned over the last twenty eight years has brought in a little cash and freed up funds used previously for boat storage, maintenance and insurance- the recurring costs the equivalent of nearly 3/4 of a 6-keyed wooden flute per year.

  • Gosh Monty, I don’t know which curtain to pick!

-Should I use the funds toward:

Curtain 1 -A comfortable old age and reduced fear of a Social Security crash?

Curtain 2 -A squeezebox, concertina, flute, or new whistle?

Curtain 3 -frittering it away on luxuries like shelter, heat and food?

Curtain 4 -charitable donations/philanthropy?

-It brings to mind a song once heard from John Roberts & Tony Barrand:

O’ once I was a shantyman, O’ wasn’t I a lad?
-and the way I spent me money, boys, wasn’t it too bad?
for its now I do regret the day while I’m out a-working
in the cold!
Save your money while you’re young me boys,
You’ll need it when you’re old.

Oh, pick door number 4. I am a charitable person and could REALLY REALLY use an O’Riordan Low D (hoping one exists so I don’t look the TOTAL fool!!!)

I mean really. Not knowing your total situation, but considering you have just rid yourself of “a hole in the water into which you constantly pore money” I am guessing you are not destitute.

I doubt the money saved would go too terribly far on door number one.

Since you have been surviving ( see above disclaimer for assumption ) I am also going to guess door number 3 would only be mildly satisfying.

So, what does that leave…

:smiling_imp: DOOR NUMBER 4 :astonished: (SEE ABOVE!)

You beat me to it

NorCal-

-You neglected to mention Curtain#2. -One of two CG Overton high D whistles available locally is calling sweetly. Both are fine,
but the one I like is extra-delightful in tone and response, and I like its back-pressure. Bloomfield’s musical taste may be the equal of his erudition.

I think that Steven was hoping that you would forget about WhOA…

You beat me to it.

Curtain Number 2!!! With a good instrument, you will be able to busk for you daily bread, when you retire.

MarkB

Yes, go for #2. And with a good instrument you can have a little bit of fun every day.

Yes, Curtain#2 may be it. These things must be done right, and, as the spacing guild rep says in the William Hurt version of “Dune”: “The forms must be obeyed!” -Required now is a *stunner elegantly gowned to draw the curtain back gracefully to reveal…

-to be continued-

*no, not a Tazer or cattle prod, but capable of similar effect
on various hairy, simple-minded animals

Susato high D?
