Will the real Surf City, USA, please stand up and hang ten?

Heh. “They got no waves.” Great line! :sunglasses:

LOL Red!! Like, congratulations! That’s like totally far out!

Now I’ve got that song going in my head… :stuck_out_tongue:

Did you see the bit about that one senator opposing either city using the title because neither has “two girls for every boy”? I thought that was hilarious!

Seriously, Santa Cruz has never been all that concerned about the title (though we are the city where surfing first came to the continent, brought by a Hawaiian prince, as well as the place where both the wet suit and the skate board were invented…both for surfers!), but Huntington Beach’s attempt to copyright the title concerned people because so many businesses here are “Surf City” this or that.

Score one for the arribeños, zero for the abajeños. You see, the rivalry between north and south in California goes back to the early 1800s. I grew up never liking LA, then found out later that we are culturally predisposed to not like it…

But as for surfin’, I never even been to Huntington Beach, so I am not objective. And ya gotta admit, the weather in SC isn’t exactly ideal Gidget sunshine…

Yes, I did see that part…and it’s the part that keeps running through my head now  Even if one of the places could claim to have two girls for every boy, it wouldn’t last long…too many boys would be moving out to collect his two girls

And Red…unless I’m losing it completely (which very well could be the case ) did we forget to congratulate you on your 3K ???

Oh, I dunno. It’s pretty sunny here in the summer and fall. We were down by Natural Bridges yesterday, and it was about 80…perfect beach weather!

Geez, I did just pass 3000, didn’t I! :astonished:
